Can I store bacteria cells at +4C before plasmid isolation? - (Feb/12/2008 )
Hi to you all,
I want to isolate plasmids from E.coli DH5 alfa strain. I applied nearly 13-14 hours incubation for bacterial growth. I planned to perform plasmid isolation just after incubation, however an unexpected meeting interfere with my route. So I have to delay plasmid isolation for about 6 hours. I wonder that if I store cells at +4C for 6 hours, can I use them for plasmid isolation? Does isolation efficiency change or not?
thank you

hi gothica,
no problem if you store your bacteria cultures at +4C for some hours, even for the week-end
for longer storage, I prefer to pellet the cells and store them at -20C
