Mini plasmid Kit extraction - (Feb/06/2008 )

Hi,

I would like to know which is the less expensive mini plasmid extraction kit please(Roche,Quiagen,Promega,etc....) ?,this is my first question.And the second one is,what is the Miniprep kit with the better ratio price/quality?.

Hi, we normally use kit from qiagen, but if you are looking something cheap,
I recently received free miniprep kit sample (50 tests) from Zymo Research.
(i still did not test this kit, but looks very similar to qiagen kit, and I thought cheaper than that)

We use invitrogen miniprep kit and its cheaper. With Zymo kit, we didnt get good yields (for unknown reasons). i am not sure about the prices for sigma or promega. They could be cheaper but we havn't tried them yet.

i used promega express wizard kit and quiagen mini kit for plasmid extraction.
i also used miniprep matrix kit.

In terms of prices: matrix kit < promega < quiagen
in terms of yield matrix kit > promega ~ quiagen
in terms of purity : quiagen > promega > miniprep matrix

We have less expensive plasmid mini prep kit and yield are comparable to Qiagen kit. Let us know if you like to try.
