dry Ni-NTA resin - can it be reconstituted? (Feb/05/2008 )

The other day we found in the fridge a column with 2 mL of Ni-NTA-agarose that had completely dried up. Is it useless? Or can it be rehydrated?

the danger in drying the gel is that the beads may be broken and fines formed. if you want to reuse the gel you will have to unpack the column, rehydrate, define and repack.

the nickel can always be recharged if you have enough intact gel left to use (you should, depends on how long and how totally it has been dry).
