Maxiprep Corex Tube Replacement - (Feb/04/2008 )
Hello All; first time poster
I am at a loss in my laboratory to find replacements of the 30 ml corex (glass) tubes used at the end of Maxipreps to spin down DNA pellet. It seems as if these tubes are no longer made... I was wondering if people could share what tubes they use instead of these corex and supply the manufactuer!
Thank in advance!!!

we use tubes from beckman for the isopropanol precipitation of DNA. they hold ~27-28 ml.

Kimble makes 30 ml glass centrifuge tubes that are comparable to the
old Corex tubes. They are available from ThermoFisher: catalog # 09-500-37

We've tried those Kinble tubes and the unfortunately couldnt hold up in the centrifuge and shattered...
Ill check and see if I can find the Beckmann ones mentioned...

Could you please provide a little bit more info on which tubes specifically from Beckman... there are several different types available. Are they the thickwall polyallomer ones?

we clean it and re use it. But over period of time they develop major cracks and its better to get rid of them. A box of these tubes should last a few years, atleast 2-3 years.
