Need ur help- Question regarding Mutants - (Jan/22/2008 )
Dear Friends,
Could you please suggest me an answer for the below question,
"There are a large number of mutants available for a specific protein A that you are interested in when isolated from different populations. For example in 3 individuals the protein is known to have amino acids valine, leucine and methionine for a residue located in the core of the protein. Do you expect these "mutants" to have similar or different activity? And why?
Looking for appropriate answer.
Cheers,

predicting activity is not easy and no joke. One has to compare the wildtype protein along side with the mutants to know how exactly the protein behavior changes. It could be inactive or it could be hyper active with different grades. Infact, these mutants may not be different in activity to the WT at all.
Thnx..any other suggestion from researchers..
