RNA extraction from Bone Marrow - (Jan/21/2008 )

hi there
i am going to perform an RNA extraction from bone marrow though am finding it difficult to find evidence from people who have done this. i am using Qiagen method, though also have trizol available... can anyone advise? the bone marrow has been extracted and frozen and is being stored at -80 celcius

I have used Trizol to extract RNA from BM. Just thaw your sample of ice and then resuspend in the required amount of Trizol and off you go smile.gif

I have used Trizol to extract RNA from BM. Just thaw your sample of ice and then resuspend in the required amount of Trizol and off you go smile.gif



thanks so much. i guess it would work with the Qiagen method too - have you heard of this? otherwise, i may just stick to trizol as have used it before too.

Do you mean the Qiagen kit (comes in a red box)? I have never used it, but from memory you would use it if you had a small amount of cells?
