Hello everybody!

I have two questions concerning Methanolic-HCl...

1) Which is the best way to prepare Methanolic-HCl... I read that it is critical to remove any trace of water

2) What does 2M Methanolic-HCl mean? Moles of methanol?

2) moles of hcl. methanol is the solvent.

Its made by introducing HCl gas to the methanol (cold on ice). You will have to weight the bottle before and after the gasing and the volume of the the methanol-HCl solution to get a concentration. Yes, it is HCl concentration in methanol. If you are trying to make ester you need to use anhydrous methanol.
