lung cancer supernatant - what does it contain? (Dec/23/2007 )

hi!

anyone knows what does lung cancer cells supernantant contain? or any information about it? i am supporting to use the supernatant to treat glial cells. why?

Some growth factors and lipid mediators, maybe? You ahve to be more specific on that. like what cells are these and did you treat these cells, etc.

M working on BV2 which is a type of microlial cells. the only treatment i gave is to activate them with lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

LPS activates so many different pathways. Cells release many cytokines like TNF-alpha, IL-2 and lipid mediators.

different clones (of lung cancer cells) may exhibit different molecules as genehunter-1 suggests; to standardize your experiment, try to use a distinct lung cancer cell line cultured under standard conditions
