Thermostable Reverse Transcriptase for RT-PCR - (Dec/20/2007 )

Hello experts,

I am looking for recommendations on thermostable reverse transcriptase, before I place an order.

Any strong 'yes' and strong 'no' recommendations are very welcome.

thanks very much.

I use SuperscriptIII from Invitrogen @ 55°C and it works really well for my purposes.
For other purposes (RNA from another virus as the one I'm working on) colleagues of mine were less succesfull with this enzyme, but more succesful with Transcriptor from Roche (also at temperatures above 50°C).
We didn't get Afinityscript from Stratagene to work, but all of this seems template dependent to some extend.

Maybe you should ask for some free samples from severall companies if you have enough template?

I use Invitrogen Superscript III One-step RT-PCR which works really well on my virus samples.

Has anyone used Gibco-Brl thermoscript kit? any comments??

thanks.
