Hehe.

I saw such parks in the US. There is a kind of creationism wave actually... and it seems to gain the world.. Since the evolution has taken so much place in the schools, they now have to find new ways of givint their infos to the world..

Christian fanatism is beginning to grow a little too much for my confort... Let's hope it'll go down a bit, it's getting scary!

But this movement has to find other ways, perhaps a theme park can be more effective and more in tune with the times, since it can't get a foothold inside student classrooms anyways.....I've yet to see it though before I make my judgment..the idea is not so original and IMO, theme parks are sooo "Disneyish" smacking of escapism and excessive consumerism so I wonder if it's an appropriate medium for promoting christian values and fighting off society's moral decadence (if that's really their aim aside from the big one of course..the controversial seven days). Meanwhile if there are people who are willing to bankroll the project (for whatever motivation they have) and people who may want to go and experience it, let them have their chance....

It's propaganda ... targeting young kids before they go to school and learn about evolution is a logical strategy for them. Hopefully the audience will onli be families who are creationists already. The scary thing is that they have that kind of funding.

Not to worry. As the kids get older they will subconsciously categorize Creationism with Mickey Mouse and all other theme park fantasies. Right where it belongs.

Yeah it sure will.
I'm sick of Christian fanatism. I am a Catholic, I study in the Chilean Catholic University and what I think (and all christians studying there) is that God works through evolution, science discovers the way god works and science ain't blasphemy.

But the idea to create a theme park is legit.

I think this is old news (I remember reading about it last year) and date on the web page shows that I am correct blink.gif
If you would like to get a rough idea of what the day could hold: a nice christian tour

While the intelligent design argument appears to be getting its driving force from the US it is worth pointing out that 1) in Turkey ( a predominantly Muslim country / secular politics ) there is a similar movement ( again, I think I came across this in the Guardian - i will find the link and post back ) the ideas are the same, as is the modus operandi. You shouldn't just blame the Christians. 2) that the people behind ID are trying, hard, to distance themselves from christianity - take Behe for instance or the rest of the discovery institute ( I am not endorsing ID at all or any kind of belief system - you just can't blame one ).

In addition to this, for those in the uk, you should start to worry about the city academies which already teach ID (just internet search city academies creationism - again lots of stuff from the Guardian). As I mentioned in another post, the DVDs that were posted to schools in the UK are good, very good - visually, not in content. I doubt that many children, if any at all (these kids probably know little about evolution - and after all, it is only a theory so the DVD reminds you) would be able to interpret these DVDs as fatuous, simply because evolution is so complex - this same view was expressed by Lewis Wolpert (a developmental biologist at UCL and Humanist go here to listen to a fantastic debate).

I wonder why people are so open to most ideas, but not at all open to intelligent design?

Check out this Ben Stein movie coming out.

It makes me wonder why people don't even want the discussion. I thought science was all about discussion?
