How can I remove water from RNA? - (Dec/14/2007 )

Hi to you all,
I performed RNA isolation and then applied DNase treatment and precipitation with LiCl2. As last step I had to use 70% ethanol to wash RNA and then centrifuge. However I forgot this step and after removal of LiCl2 by centrifugation, and I directly added ddH2O and dissolve RNA.

So how can I remove ddH2O and apply ethanol precipitation? Or should I use this RNA?

any suggesstion?

take care...

Maybe you could add enough EtOH 95% to get a final concentration of 70% to do the precipitation?

As you said, the 70% ethanol is only a washing step. An reprecipitation would cause loss of RNA material, so I would try you RNA as is.

have you tried seeing the quality of your RNA?
that might indicate if yo have to repeat this process or can move on.
try doing a spc reding, and then run a RNA gel.

You could precipitate the RNA and wash it with 70% ethanol.

you could dry it in a speedvac (or a lyophilizer) then wash with 70% ethanol (the residual licl2 that you should have washed away is still there) then resuspend with water.
