Formaldehyde killer bacteria - (Nov/08/2007 )

I want to kill bacteria in a bacterial culture using formaldehyde. Would anybody kindly tell me what is the effective and safe dose of formaldehyde I should use?

Hi I don't know for fomaldehyde but you can use glutaraldehyde 10% for one hour.

If you want to be safe, check by yourself your conditions.
why don't you try several concentrations, 1 and 4 % for example, from 20 min to 1 hour. Then wash your bacteria and check if they still can grow on an agar plate?
So you will be sure.
