Strange RNA behaviour - only 28S RNA left? - (Nov/05/2007 )

Hi everyone,

I've finished a run of RNeasy isolated total human RNA on a Bioanalyzer RNA nano chip and found that everything looks ok basically (some good samples, ladder ok, etc...) but two samples show a really strange behaviour: I really can't explain... They seemingly have only the 28S band left, the 18S band is almost gone or not detectable... Anyone here experienced this before? Could this be degradation? I always thought that degraded RNa should "lose" the 28S band, not the 18S????

Ideas anyone???

Mike

oh...
do u run gel to check the quality of ur RNA??
my fred run the agarose gel to check the RNA...
it seems ok..

but when using the agilent bioanalyzer 2100 to check the quality of RNA, it give funny result...

hi there,

i checked my rna on a standard gel, same result... only 28s rna, nothing else...?!?? anyone experienced this?
