Does Phenol-chloroform can be used instead of phenolchloroform isoamyl alcohol. and P/C can be mixed in 1:1 ratio.....

Addition of isoamyl alcohol removes chloroform and chloroform removes residual phenol. P:C:I is 25:24:1. I think it's better to use P:C:I.

isoamyl alcohol is added to prevent or, at least, reduce foaming.

you can use p/c if you don't mind having some foam.
