Max Planck Institute, Berlin - anyone from there? (Oct/05/2007 )

Hey guys..

Anyone here from Germany? More specifically in any Max Planck Institute? I got an email just recently to attend an interview in Berlin next month for post graduate programme. I am really excited and scared as well. Not sure what to prepare to bring over.

And how are they gonna reimburse my travel fees? Do I have to fork out the money first (Please bear in mind that I am in Malaysia, it can be very costly)?

How about Berlin? Will it be superbly freezing during November? Will it be the same with Melbourne's winter as I spent some time there as well?

Thanks guys

Hi timjim,

actually I'm not from Berlin and I also don't work at a MPI. But I live in Germany. I think Berlin in November is probably a bit colder than Melbourne in the winter. You should expect temperatures perhaps between 0° and 10° C. It rarely snows at that time of year, but expect (cold!) rain. You better take an umbrella with you. But Berlin is a fascinating, lively city and worth bearing bad weather.
I don't know how MPIs deal with travel reimbursement. It's possible (and quite common in Germany)that you have to "fork out the money first". I would suggest you call an ask them.

I hope I could be of at least some help.
Good luck for your interview!!!!

Thanks for the only reply. Are you staying in Berlin? Oh great... I think I have to get some warm clothes.

Thank you alot for the information. Hope I can nail it in the interview. wink.gif
