lentivirus spin-infection - (Oct/02/2007 )
hello everyone,
I had heard that spinning can improve lentivirus infection in vitro. But we don't have such instrument. Do you think there is much difference to spin or not?
Thank you !
I don't know about for lentivirus- but I work with murine cytomegalovirus and centrifugal enhancement increases the MOI of infection approximately 50 fold.
Thank you lauralee,
I use lentiviruses to infect primary human cells in suspension for which spin infection is recommended. But I have done a comparison between normal and spin infection (But not calculated the MOI) . In both there wasnt much difference. You wont need any special instrument for spin infection. If you have a rotor which has provision for spinning 6-well platyes at 2500RPm at 37C that should be enough. Even RT works fine.
