Who makes 200-350cm2 tissue culture roller bottles? - (Sep/25/2007 )
I need some small tissue culture roller bottles between 200cm2 and 350cm2 and I can't find any. PLEASE DON'T LEAVE A MESSAGE STATING THAT I CAN LOOK ON THE INTERNET OR SOME OTHER PLACE JUST TO GET CREDIT FOR A POST.

Its going to be hard to find. Roller bottles are meant for large scale culture purpose, interest for small to medium scale is less, hence there is no market. You may want to test if a used glass alchohol bottle (1 pint size) can do the job. Good luck.
Just wondering...
Why do you need a small rolling bottle?
Can you grow your cells in a few medium flasks?
The smallest size I could find is 490cm2. Why do you need to culture in bottles instead of flasks or plates???
The ratio between the number of cells per container to the amount of culture fluid needed is greater which makes it optimal because of the costs. Just think about all of the costs of culturing.
What about the cost of the roller bottles though? Surely if you do find some, I would expect that they would not be cheap due to the lack of demand.
If you are worried about the cost of cell culture, here are some suggestions that we have implemented in our lab:
-We use P150 tissue culture plates, which are about the same cost each as T75s, but have almost double the culture surface area.
-Another thing you could try (this will depend on your cell line and what you use them for of course) is to wean your cells from FCS to NCS- which is less than around 1/6 of the price.
-Additionally, you could buy your media in powder form and make it up yourself, rather than buying bottles of liquid media. For example- MEM powder to make 10L of liquid media is approx $38, compared with approx $470 if you buy 10L as cases of 500ml bottles of media.
We also make up our own trypsin (from powder form) and PBS.
150 mm dishes are cheaper than 175 cm^2 flasks.
The additives to the media are what cost a lot of money!! How much do you think GMP and GLP proteins cost?
Ok, no need to be so aggressive- no I don't know how much those proteins cost, but you didn't say in your post that you were using them so how was I supposed to know that this is why you were wanting to reduce your media volume???
I was only trying to help.
