Murine Macrophage eiliciting [HELP] - Which is right thioglycollate?? (Sep/25/2007 )
Hi, all.
I'm new to macrophage work.
To elicit peritoneal macrophages, people use inert materials such as thioglycollate .
Our lab has Fluid thioglycollate medium from Difco for micro work [this one has yeast extract, agar and other stuff].
Is it ok to use this?
Or should I get plain "sodium thioglycollate" for the injection?
Help is needed~!!
Thanks.

If you need activated Macrophage, you can inject Thioglycolate or Caseium (not inert materials). I think you need fresh Thioglycolate. My Thioglycolate changes to yellowish after few months.
If you need monocytes, dont inject any thing into peritoneal cavity.
