Assay to test if a mRNA is under active translation? - (Aug/23/2007 )
Hi, my gene express large amount of mRNA but no proteins in the cell.
I want to figure out at what stage the gene expression is braked.
the first thing i want to know if the mRNA is under active translation. If yes, then it lies on post-translation modification. ohterwise, the post-transcription and post-translation hold up the expression.
BUT i donot know which assay would be appropriate for such hypothesis. Please advise!!! thank you.

What cells (and what protein) are you talking about?
You can purify the RNA and do some in vitro translation.
