Growth factor stability - Can we add EGF and bFGF directly into the bottle? (Aug/09/2007 )

Hi,

I am wondering if it is OK to add EGF and basic FGF directly into DMEM/F12 500ml bottle.
Generally, how long do these growth factors ability maintain in this condition?

A lab I worked with briefly added such components directly to their media and stored at 4C like always... I do not even recall that they had a shorter shelf life or anything, best thing is to make up that way and store hmmm... my guess is store less than one month?? you may want to minimize the amount of time the media is left in the 37C waterbath to warm up also...

Overall I think you do add directly to the media (assuming all are sterile) and use like all media...
