Unknown Virus - Need help to identify virus (Aug/06/2007 )
Hello, I need a little help here.
My friend is infected with a virus but she would not tell me what virus it is. She only gave me a little clues like the treatment was using NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflamatory drugs). The best thing is that after being infected she was resistant to flu diseases. I wish to know more about this virus but she would not tell me. Does anyone knows how can i actually obtain more data of this virus based on the treatment that is administered on her?
Thanks a bunch!
There might be a good reason why your friend doesn't want to tell you the virus type. You might want to consider her feelings before you go down that path...
Or maybe she does not know herself for sure. Few viral infections are diagnosed correctly.
Unfortuntately 'non-steroidal anti-inflamatory' drugs is used for pain, fever and inflammation relief. It is about as non specific as you can get. This is a catch all catagory where anything "non-steroidal' is thrown in. You are probably most familiar with members like aspirin and ibuprofen. So as a treatment... well anything under the sun that might make you feel pain, have a fever or have an inflammation... from the common cold to HIV, to cancer to cramps.
I think it would be better if you just read up on the Rhinovirus, the causative agent of the common cold.

So true!
But not everything under the sun that gives pain, fever, or inflammation. . . . NSAIDs have a lot of side-effects and many contraindications. So, even with these over-the counter drugs, one should take all the precautions.
hmm Yeah its kinda hard finding bout it.. thanks guys... problem is, she's a microbiologist.... She knows bout it more than I do and best is she told me do not do anything as its useless. no cure as it had fused with her bone marrows cells.. sigh... but luckily its not fatal....
