Good GFP antibody from SANTA CRUZ for Western Blotting? - (Jul/20/2007 )
Got a couple (3) constructs with GFP tags and was wondering if any of you know of a great, clean (monoclonal??) anti-GFP from Santa Cruz that would work well for tagged proteins in westerns? It would be helpful if the antibody recognized both GFP AND EGFP and as a bonus work well in Immunohistochemistry. I know that's a lot to ask for from one antibody, but one can hope
I routinely use sc-9996. It's a monoclonal which, at least in my hands, works great for westerns and fairly well for IF (cells!) but I'm not sure how it'll be for tissue samples. There is a bit of background with IF but nothing extreme.
A good antibody from santa cruz? Nuff said
Actually, the sc-9996 (or we usually call the B2 antibody) is OK. It works, although not as sensitive as other available anti-GFP Abs, but it did work, with minimal background. For WB is acceptable. IF is OK. I also don't know about tissue. IP: it pulls down GFP-tagged proteins, but with not as high efficiency as others.
I would suggest that you also have a look for the antibody with companies other than SantaCruz e.g. Invitrogen's molecular probes!!
I could imagine that abcam also have what you are looking for! I also agree with repeatcell, molecular probes is great!
Does anyone also have an idea if antiodies again YFP are also available. Or does antibodies against GFP also recognize YFP on western blots?
The Clontech Ab (632460) living colour full-length rabbit antibody work for all living colours that are modifications from GFP, including YFP.
