mutation on ficus deltoidea - any experience to share? (Jul/18/2007 )

hello guys.. laugh.gif im doing mutation on ficus deltoidea. mainly its about to increase the growth rate but at the same time to maintain the chemicals that can be extracted from this herb. ficus deltoidea is a herb plant traditionally used by women afterbirth to contract the uterus and vargina post delivery and for dysmenorrhea(period pain) in my country. can anyone kindly share their experience cause im just a learning beginner. blush.gif thanks guys..

Hi. I just saw this post of yours. Ya i'm doing on the same plant either but the scope is different from yours. I'm doing suspension culture for it. It is a traditional medicinal plant in my country either. Good for women. closedeyes.gif

Lingling, how u form the callus before u initiated the suspension culture. Can u give a guide or method for doing this?I'm doing the same project for my first degree. Can u help me?

I guess you could do random mutation of the genome and screen for high levels of expression of growth genes and normal levels of the drugs. This would probably be the easiest way without creating a genetically modified mutant, which are often not allowed to be used outside of the lab.
