metal enzyme - gene expression induction time (Feb/14/2004 )

Hello
I have a kind of dumb, general question..

I have a question about the time length it takes for
a gene to be expressed.
How long does it usually take for a gene to
be induced as a response to the environmental
inducer?
How fast does this activation is reflected
to the growth rate of the organism?

Thanks!

In which system did you mean? in vitro or vivo? If it's in vitro, it could take anywhere from seconds to hours for a gene to be induced by stimuli.

I'm not sure about in vivo situation. biggrin.gif

Only overall elongation time is 30-50 sec for a small protein (so, expression time - few minutes). Overall time depends on type/nature of induction. smile.gif
