Dehydration of brain sections for Laser Capture Microdissection - (Jul/11/2007 )

Is there any way to fully dehydrate a brain slice without using an organic solvent like alcohol or acetone? For efficient Laser Capture Microdissection, a slice needs to be fully dried. However, because I am measuring lipids, which are extracted by organic solvents, I have been drying in a vacuum dessicator. But because this takes a long time, it leads to problems with sample quality. Is there any other way to do this?

drop the brain after fixing into 30% sucrose. It will dehydrate in 2-3 days. I forget, if it will sink or will float in 2-3 days, indicating that its dehydrated.
