How complete is the Chicken Genome? - (May/28/2007 )

Hi there,

I am wondering if anyone has an opinion....

I blasted the Chicken Genome with a sequence from a crocodile... and came up with some hits, but none that are extremely close.

Do you think it is possible to conclude that the direct homologue of this gene could be missing in chicken?
Ie, is the chicken genome complete enough to know that its not present??

First of all, in science you don't have to always observe what you're expecting so I'll say to you don't be bias if its not there its not there. I know how difficult it is to believe what you are looking is no where to be found, its not missing so the fact is it not there.

With the basic knowledge I have on chicken genes I'll suggest you blast different strains since they may have some slightly differences in their genome.
