Are there ghosts?
If yes, what are they?Who are they? What do they eat? Why are we afraid of them? Are there friendly Ghosts? What language they speak?
Do they take bath? Do they brush teeth? Do they watch TV? Do they do research?
. . . etc etc. .

According to the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, ghost is the spirit of a dead person that a living person believes they can see or hear.
I think that the perception of ghosts depends on our background.. racial.. cultural... etc. People from different part of the world will have different version of their ghosts. Even in one's local community, we can have many different 'type' of ghosts. Each of these ghosts may exhibit different characteristics, habits, etc..
Personally, I've no such encounter... I don't really believe in ghosts though at times, I'm in doubt. I think that ghost is part of our culture and belief.. Whether they really exist or not, I don't have a definite answer. Some people would say that they have encounter with ghost but maybe that was some psychological influences behind... ? ? ? ?
Anyhow, I still love spooky stories.....
spirits of dead people are ghosts, i believe in this , since after death, it's just the body which dies, but the spirit still alive..
there are other ghosts which differ from spirits...if u heard about fire creatures!!
These things freak me out! I believe in them, but I also believe in a kind of "protective spirit", or guardian angel, if you will.
One of my close friends have read a lot of books about spirits, ghosts, etc. She really likes those kind of things, and enjoy talking about them too. Personnally, I prefer stay away from those things. My curiosity is sometimes too strong for me not to look at a TV special, though...
Growing up in some country with so many Ghost films around is not helping much. I personally very afraid of them.
But one thing why I can embrace myself is I didn't do anything wrong. As long as I am not guilty, I will be safe.
Some of you who've read the "Hobbies" thread know that I've already outed myself as somebody who actually used to investigate these things, scientifically, as a hobby. In the years I was doing this, I had only one encounter. I'll give you my story, take it for what it's worth.
A fellow investigator and I were staying the night in a deserted town in the southwestern U.S. (such deserted/abandoned towns are interestingly enough called 'ghost towns' in my country). If you've seen western cowboy towns on TV or movies, that's what I'm talking about here. We were leaning in the doorway of what was once the town's saloon when we heard a noise, which I dismissed as the wind blowing a squeaky door. My friend went out into the street to check it out. While he was in the street listening for the noise, less than two meters away from me I distinctly heard the sound of somebody getting up from a creaky chair/bench, then heavy boots with spurs took a few steps across the wooden boardwalk, down three steps into the street, then take about ten steps down the gravelly dirt street away from my friend.
No, I didn't get it on tape. No, I didn't see anything, but the sounds were very close and distinct. My friend heard it, I heard it, and I'll never forget it.
Ghost=Soul=God. If any one of these exist, others also exist. O'wise none exists.
this link might throw some light
Yup,
God.. spirit.. Satan.. demons.. ghosts.... Somehow they are inter-related.
Anyhow, I think that whether ghosts exist or not, we can always control our fear. When I was small, I was always afraid of darkness and ghosts. When I grow up, I begin to control my emotion and feeling. Usually we'll get scared when we start to imagine things..
Maybe we can be more alert and focus on the surroundings. Then we'll realize that it is just our thoughts that created the fear. Ya, and it helps to think that if we do nothing wrong to anyone, then no one will come to disturb you
If I was to walk alone on a street at night, I would rather choose to stumble upon a ghost than a men, considering the safety of today's world *touch wood... touch wood*
