TNES Urea - keep at RT or 4 C? (May/22/2007 )
This TNES urea buffer was becoming cold during mixing the ingredients (Tris HCl, EDTA, NaCl, SDS, and urea). But I had no idea at what temperature I should keep it.
Need your suggestion
Thanks

Dissolving urea is strongly endothermic, hence the coldness of the solution. Urea decomposes readily at about 30C, and presumably more slowly but significantly at RT. I would keep it in the fridge or lower. Little is likely to grow in it.

but be careful, if the urea is concentrated enough then it will crystallize in the cold. but, then again, so will the sds.
