RNA extraction from pancreatic islets - (May/22/2007 )

Hi! I am trying to isolate total RNA from islets isolated from the mouse pancreas, and I'm having a lot of trouble with RNA quality. I have tried using the Qiagen RNeasy kit and had trouble with totally disrupting the samples. I have recently tried using Trizol, and I recovered more RNA but the quality was still very poor. If anybody has a good protocol for extracting RNA from islets or any tips I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
