Free publication server in biology? - (May/17/2007 )

Dear biologists,

Our colleagues in physics have a great way of depositing their publications in a freely accessible online archive for everybody to read. We have something of the kind with PubMed and PubMed Central but many journals only deposit abstracts there. Many funding agencies, e.g. NIH and Wellcome, have started making it a requirement to upload the final article before layout by the journal to a server for open access. If you were NIH funded, you can already to that. But what about other research? Can that also be uploaded? Are there any other servers for the purpose? I heard about PubMed Central international but when is that going to take off?
