northern blot with two probes - (Nov/11/2003 )

I'm using northern blot for my research & I'd like to try probing with my target probe as well as a probe for a housekeeping gene (actin). Should this be done separately or can it be done at the same time (ie. save time & materials)?

You can certainly probe a Northern blot with two -or more - probes at once - provided that they will show up at different enough molecular weights. You may want to consider running a somewhat longer gel than usual to improve seperation.
