can cell scraper be reused - (May/08/2007 )
can the cell scraper be used again , in another word can it be steriled under high pressure?
thank you!

onlyautoclaving it should answer that, also i guess it's more the temperature rather than pressure which should be a problem.

I would not autoclave but sterilize at 55°C; ask your sterilization facility

Scrappers tha we use cannot be sterilized by autoclave (they melt) we sterilize them with gas (hospital facility)

Most commercially available scrapers are disposable and therefore single use. They are routinely sterilised via irradiation by the manufacturer. These scrapers are plastic and are not normally autoclavable. Sterilisation by autoclave is 121oC for 20 minutes at 1 Bar pressure. They are fairly cheap to buy so I cannot understand why you want to use them more than once.
Formaldehyde fumigation might be an option but this is nearly always difficult to do.

how about sterilised using rediation? UV?
i use a plastic scraper... supposingly disposable one... i dun recycle them (melt).

75 percent EtOH can sterile the scrapper.
before being used, scrapper is dipped in 75 percent EtOH, without any worry, that will be ok.
-sciencect-
70% EtOH and put it under the UV light in your cell culture laminar... This works for a lot of stuff sensitive for high temperatures...
