DAPI in mammalian cells - bright spots in DAPI staining (Sep/24/2003 )
I have noted different dapi profiles in the nucleus of mammalian cells. A recurent profile is bright spots over a fainter background (especially seen in liver). Do these spots correlate with heterochromatin because of condensation of DNA ?
I would appreciate any hints regarding this matter,
Thanks

Yes, but that's not enough to conclude that it's heterochromatin. If it colocalizes with histone antibodies (by fluorescence or immuno EM), then you'll have more substantial evidence.
