Are they kidding? Is this something like the reDiscovery-Institute? I sometimes wonder where all the people shall life, if nobody is dying anymore. Or do we simply stop having kids? It may sound cynical, but I really prefer kids over some 150-year-old-and-still-feeling-like-95-guys...

Who would be watching Sesame Street in such a world???

Krümel

well, we could develop space arks and see the stars. Imortality could come in handy there.

But aside form that opition, I agree with krümelmonster. Immortality will not work in today's society. Aside from a population jump, the impact on society will be astronomical. No more births, stagnation of power, stagnation of ideas (notice how people rarely change their minds, or accept new ideas with open arms... see how science reacts to new ideas.. the older generation always resist.)

But without these guys no Futurama, no Fry. Perhaps I try to get a job as pizza delivery boy after my PhD wink.gif
More serious: I don't think this form of time travel will be of big importance, if it will work ever. Too unsure, too expensive, too much energy consumption.
Only interesting for the too rich and too self-assured people.
