Woman: The most evolved species? - (Mar/14/2007 )
QUOTE (hobglobin @ Apr 13 2007, 04:30 AM)
Yes, but for both genders, keyword: assortative mating. And it is just a trend. Not all follow unconditionally their evolutional trait (or is it a cultural one, there were some matricharial societies...).
And for myself I not feel guilty and it is not my problem, as it is not my strategy. I 'm not interested in an inferior (dump/non-educated/what you want) woman, but this makes it more difficult to find someone, that's my experience.
And we have a very centred look to the west, in other cultures, in our point of view, situation is much bader, but there is more social order and no missing reproduction
. But this is another topic.

K-strategy...assortative mating.. ever the biologist eh hobglobin

And in which other culture is the status of women a little better than ours- and don't count the scandinavians-I want some stats on this? Missing reproduction...do you also blame the women for this?

what does the WHO report say about women parallel parking?

what does the WHO report say about women parallel parking?

Bioforum, Ahmad just used inappropriate language. We should bleep him out

Parallel parking? What is that? Never done that before.....but I bet that you can't drive, talk on the cell phone and apply make-up all at the same time. We're so much better at multitasking!!!

Casandra, you don't drive and talk, do you??? Didn't you know that is a major cause of traffic accidents?

Make-up, too?
Anyway, I always thought the horse was the most highly evolved species... 1 toe per leg, has trained Homo sapiens to feed it sugar cubes and apples, let it out for a bit of a run, stuff like that. Actually, that sounds a bit like us men! (Apart from the toe thing, and getting lots of sugar-cubes and apples, maybe replace that with beer and steaks...) He said, tongue firmly planted in cheek.

We're not exactly talking about dumb and uneducated here, just degrees below your level and you're definitely not looking above, so why is that?

That's a characteristic of women: Exactly estimating what level the opposite has and what he is, is he (or she) a little bit below or above me? And afterwards to pump out informations if the look was not sufficient, a so-called chat, but in reality an interview...

QUOTE (casandra @ Apr 14 2007, 11:42 PM)
But you think that as a woman I would prefer someone older, more stable, with money and status bla bla bla....That is so warped!!
And so self-centered, every comment they refer to themselves

Thats what I meant, there aren't almost any societies better than ours in this topic. The conclusions draw yourself.

Can't open this....so typically male..always needing a female to bail him out.

Me, drive and talk? I had several close calls with idiots who drive and talk. They should completely ban those things (cell phones and if possible the idiots too). And make-up, what for? If you're not happy with the face you're born with, the more reason for you not to look at the mirror

I like the horse analogy esp if you can just be all tied up and kept in the stables then taken out if there's work to do.

Aagh...that hurts hobglobin...I'm wounded deeply .....to be characterized as calculating, manipulative, underhanded, self-centered (the deepest cut) and too dull even to draw my own conclusions. There's no cross-talk and problem with the language this time. I could proceed using two strategies women are famed for in cases such as this: I give you either the silent treatment or the hysterical outburst. But I will opt for a dignified exit with some dignified parting words," Apologize to me first or I will never ever talk to you again and I will never change my mind about this. You'll see."

Self-centered <sigh> when in fact my middle name is altruistic

But Calvin, an argument is a statement or a claim that is based on a premise or group of premises to support a conclusion. Therefore, it’s not fluff, entirely baseless or meaningless so I’d go easy on the ‘exchange of ignorance’ unless you’re quoting yet again another sanskrit proverb. Many an interesting discussion would have one or two arguments (no matter how skewed) embedded in it and I think that we are all at a certain level that we can handle this kind of “exchange”.
Likewise, making personal references is sometimes inevitable first, bec. it could be part of a writing style which no one has any right to infringe upon and second, it’s a way to avoid making blanket statements or generalizations so one only ‘refers’ to his/her own experience, character, considerations. You may have a point if what you’re specifically referring to is the use of argumentum ad hominem, a common fallacy best avoided or taken at one’s own risk. But allow the person to make this choice.
I may be guilty of using a little bit of ad hominem by calling hobglobin mean but I have a perfect defense, the one I use whenever I get in trouble with one of my brothers “He started it!!!”

On second thoughts, he’s probably just as provoked but he gives as good as he gets so we’re evenly matched and both holding our ground. Besides like what hobglobin said, this is just another chit chat discussion (and I have been elevated to “enthusiast” status because of this thread) so let the bashing, I mean, discussion continue...and if you want join in the fray or stay safe in your bunkers....and then maybe I can attain my dream of being a “veteran”.

You're right -as ever

But before getting an "enthusiast", we will both get a warning from severe Calvin*, probably with good reason.
