Shipping antibodies - (Mar/02/2007 )
Hi - Sorry I have no idea where to post this! I need to send an aliquot of antibody to a collaborator and I'm not sure how to send it. I'm in the UK and need to send it to the US but I would like to avoid using dry ice, packaging would be a hassle etc (it will be going Fedex). Would it survive with just a cold pack for a few days?
Thanks,
Rachelle

I will try to advice the following
20% glycerol NAPi buffer(50 mM NaPi, 100mM borate 150mM NaCl) antibody concentration 5 better 10mg\ml) / after shipping at 4 C , immediately aliquote and freeze ( Freeze\thaw more than 1 cycle glycerol stocks strongly not recommend

another idea is to lyophilize Ab and post in a padded envelope without cooling

It is not a good idea about lyophilization because of a great loss of Ab activity occur (up to 80%).

It will be fine on 2-3 cold packs. Send it International priority and make sure that your paper work is in order so that it doesn't get stuck in customs.
