Malignant transformation - parameters? (Feb/07/2007 )
we isolated a stable transfectant of MDCK cell which show non-epithelial integrated unusual proliferation; I think of malignant transformation but I should show this beyond increased proliferation; what are good (molecular) parameters standards to show really malignancy?
(this is a re-post of a very similar question a week ago but unfortunately without suggestions)

Maybe evaluating expression of proto-oncogenes could help (if compare with expression in non-transfected cells). I supposse you'll find a higher expression in transfected MDCK cells. I think it could be a good experiment to determining malignancy.
good luck!

thanks for your answer, I thought of ErB-family members... (others?)
but also changes in the cell cycle program should be evaluated...
