Stable transfection utilizing ampicillin resistance? - (Jan/27/2007 )

We selected several stable transfectants (eucaryotic cell lines) with G418 utilizing neomycin restistance factor; now we are faced with an ampicillin resistance and want also to transfect stably; which antibiotic should be chosen and which are good conc to start with?

you can try blasticidin. Start around 30ug/ml and work upwards

there is also hygromycine... it is a weaker selection agent. Start around 400ug/ml... though some line are more sensitive (100ug/ml) but many are more resistent (need upto 600ug/ml)
