How to fix the liver without perfusion? - (Jan/01/2007 )

Hi everyone,

I used to fix liver by whole body perfusion, and that worked quite well. But this time I have to fix part of the liver tissue because I have to utilize the rest part for other usages.

My question is how to fix the liver without perfusion? By the way, I am preparing for paraffin embedded sections for HE staining and oil red O staining.

Cut the liver into half and store the half intended for sectioning into 4% PFA O/N at RT. This should fix it. The other half u could use it as u please.
