how to determine the length of each phase in cell cycle - (Dec/19/2006 )
Hi,
Does anyone know how to determine the duration of each phase in cell cycle? Currently, I am working with bone marrow stem cells. The total cell cycle time is around 33h, but I have no idea how long each phase takes. Is there any way to determine the length of each phase? Thanks a lot!

You can do FACS to determine duration of each phase in cell cycle. You might want to synchronize cells in one phase of cell cycle before starting FACS analysis. This will ensure that all the cells are in one phase of cell cycle while starting FACS and move synchronously in next phase of cell cycle. You can take samples at different time intervals.
