red fluorescence - (Dec/11/2006 )

Iève transfected my protein of interest fused with red fluorescent protein in mammalian cells.My protein is secreted from the cells.When i did western,the fused protein bands also show up along with the normal one.So,it means that protein fused with RFP is also secreted by cells.
But my boss is saying that there is no need to do western,the solution itself should be red.
But i think that when i wash my cells,along with that protein,there will be so many other proteins & compounds also which are secreted by the cells & the solution is so diluted that it cannot be red.
Now my question is that should the solution be red or not.

solution of secreted proteins will be red if excited for RFP, at normal light, of course not; Wb is the standard, well accepted method to qualify and quantify proteins;
