Any experience with green to red fluorescence RET (FRET)? - (Nov/23/2006 )

Has anyone experience with green to red fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET)?

Has someone checked various red fluorescent proteins for this kind of FRET?

Especially, has someone checked the differences of monomeric and dimeric red fluorescent proteins to be excited by green light?

Haven't done it myself, but you might check this article: ttp://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=16299475&dopt=Abstract (not that the authors are the ones providing several of the Fluorescent proteins, and hence have conflicts of interest).

Personally, considering the mechanism of FRET, I think a monomer would be better.
