serum free cell culture medium - (Nov/14/2006 )
Dear colleagues,
I am using PC-1 (Cambrexx), serum-free and chemically defined medium for cell culture (Caco-2, HT-29, SW480 colon cancer cell lines). Unfortunately, the supply of this medium by the manifacturer is very bad and it is now impossible to rely on this medium.
Does anyone have good results and experiences with other serum-free (chemically defined) cell culture medium?
Thanx!
Renee
Hi!
We had used KSFM (it should sytand for keratinocyte serum free media) by Sigma but with other cell lines, such as PZ-HPV-7. It has to be supplemented with growth factors instead of FBS; you can buy them from Sigma as well, they are called "supplements for KSFM".
Hope it suits you!

protein-free hybridoma medium 2 (Gibco) is a goof medium not only for hybridoma but also all kind of lymphoma...
why not try it on your cells
Seb
We use keratinocyte serum free medium from Gibco and have never had a problem
Hi, Renee,
We've actually made out cells grow in DMEM+10%.
We're growing Caco-2, HT-29, SW480 cell lines as well

Hi Renee,
Serum-free media from Hyclone worked very well in our hand, though we used different cell lines.
