Primers & probes of Applied Biosystems for real time - (Nov/08/2006 )

Has anyone have had experience of inventoried and designed primers & probes for certain genes to use in real time. Could anyone let me know about their compatibility for real time use. As these are pre validated and tested by R&D of the company, I hope these will be working and ready go on. THough these are costly (£104.00) but I feel it save the time for optimisation.

I dont know how far what i believe is true. Hence could anyone who has use them please let me know the experience of using them.

Thanks a ton

I have used off the shelf Taqman assays for some of my target genes. ALthough it does save money initially, you will still have to do standarrdisation of different conc. RT-efficiency, PCR efficiency etc- which incidentally you have to do for SYBR green too. SO in the longer run it turns out to be way more expensive that SYBR green.
If cost is your concern and manhours/effort are not then choose SYBR green
If cost is not your concern then by all means choose Taqman
