To all working on PC12 cell lline,

anyone know or has been working on a control cell line (ie healthy cells) to compare with PC-12?
any suggestion?

adequate for comparison should be native neuroendocrine cells from adrenal gland; however, this should be difficult to handle as they have to be freshly prepared as primary cell culture

hi i came across cell line from ATCC. The cell line is described as epithelial type but no mention of disease or not.. so is it non-disease type?

I think it is clearly described by ATCC that PC-12 cells derive from a pheochromocytoma which is a neuroendocrine tumor of the adrenal glands; PC-12 are used to study mechanisms of (neuro)endocrine secretion (exocytosis) of adrenaline or noradrenaline as both are excessively secreted
