Tumour cells grow slower than normal cells, why? - cell proliferation rate in normal vs tumour cell (Oct/24/2006 )

Hi!

I notice that most tumour cell grow slower than normal cells.

I introduced a gene in a normal cell and it increased cell size, but slightly decreased cell proliferation.

Is there a rational for this?

Thanks!

i guess.... the newly the new gene product might be distubing the cell cycle setup......

cannot be generalized; it depends very much on cell type and cell line, respectively
