E-cell Project - (Oct/23/2006 )

Hi everyone,

I came across this python project called 'E-cell', and I was wondering if anyone hasheard about this or used it in systems biology projects?
It sounds like a very ambitious project: "E-Cell Project develops general technologies and theoretical supports for computational biology with the grand aim to allow for precise whole cell simulation at the molecular level." (from their website)

I was wondering if anyone here has used it/heard much about it?

Thanks in advance

Hey,

I have come across this - the first time years ago when i did my BSc... many years ago! There are several projects like this and I am certain the one I came across was not identical to this. Other things to google are virtual cell and things like that - which should yield similar hits.

I think they are getting a bit carried away with stuff like this especially as we have solved the 'simple' task of predicting protein structure...

We have?

ah bugger a typo - should have been haven't - unless one of my programs is working really really well.
Had a great bug the other day - told me my predictions were 98% accurate - I almost got excited before I realised I was an idiot.

SORRY.

No worries. If you had solved structure prediciton, I was going to send you some things to predict.
