GFP labelled protein purification - (Oct/10/2006 )
Hi
I'm afraid I'm not very up-to-date on this topic but basically:
My lab is trying to prepare a GFP labelled (or other label that anyone can suggest!) peptide. This peptide binds to and stimulates the cells we study so we want to use this for studying the interaction with the cells. We are thinking of doing this by cloning the gene and a GFP tag into a vector and expressing it in E.coli or something similar. But our problem is how to purify the GFP labelled peptide from the cells afterward. Is there any kind of kit where you can pull the GFP labelled peptide out from the cell extracts? Or does anybody have any other ideas for doing this? I have found kits for extracting RFP labelled peptides but the problem is that there are fewer kits for making an RFP labelled peptide!
I hope this makes sense since I'm pretty backward on all this stuff so please excuse any mistakes I've made!
Thanks
