i am assuming you mean transfection reagents ??

they dont seem to advertise transfection freebies... so i just contacted a number of companies asking for a trial sample (saying i was setting up the system) before doing in depth experiments to ensure i got maximal transfection efficiency.

managed to get transfection reagents from promega, qiagen and ambion (5 in all)

most companies should send you some,

whats the worst that can happen??

Qiagen are avaricious and give nothing for free, but they offer a trial kit; try Roche, they recently launched Fugene HD, and may still offer a trial pack for free;

if you look for a cheap transfection reagent, use polyethylenimine (PEI) which is very cheap from Sigma-Aldrich; you have to adjust pH and optimize;

Recently Roche released Fugene HD, Invitrogen released Lipofectamine LTX and Stratagene released Satisfection. Contact them and see if you can get a free sample?

how abt making solutions for calcium phosphate transfection ?

i had a free fugene sample...
there's wasn't much in the sample, but it was a good little freebee. You'll have to ask around, and if you let the companies know what you're doing (for ideas on how to ask read all the other posts in this forum, as well as include a sob story), they might send something you need.

Biontec offers free samples of their Metafectene and Metafectene Pro transfection reagents, apart from that I've not come across any free samples except you negotiate something in personal with the companies.

try promega they gave me 100 microlitre sample, more than enough for my two transfections!!!!

-Jimmy_september-

did they launch a new transfection reagent? or was it a deal with your local Promega representant?

I recently got a good rate (45% less) for lipofectamin LTX; ok, not for free but total free is rare to get...
