Phenol, Proteins and DNA - (Sep/24/2006 )

Hi,

I was just wondering, how are proteins denatured in phenol and why is DNA resistant to phenol denaturation?

Thanks

this is because a protein in the presence of phenol tend to unfold; its hydrophobic groups dissolved by phenol,
while DNA has no hydrophobic groups, so phenol (inorganic solvent) hasnothing to do with it
